Exposing the sale of secret nuclear technology to the Middle East. Despite a U.S. gag order she has hinted that those involved include Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, Eric Edelman, Marc Grossman, Brent Scowcroft, Larry Franklin, and congressmen Dennis Hastert, Roy Blunt, Dan Burton, Tom Lantos, Bob Livingston, Stephen Solarz, and think tank members Graham E. Karen Kwiatkowski (Lt. Col., ret.)
Quit the Pentagon to speak out against the Bush Administration’s “faith-based foreign policy.” She has said that “The way Israelis ... run their country in some respects is something Americans could take a lesson from. They put Israel first every time all the time. ... They put Israel number one, they never put Israel number two.”
Harry Browne
Twice the Libertarian Party’s presidential candidate. Famous for one-liners like: Government cripples you, then hands you a crutch and says, “See, if it wasn’t for us, you couldn’t walk.” We disagree with his position on immigration and Ayn Rand, among other things.

Generally avoid:NewsMax — a neocon disinformation outlet for the vulgar.
Accuracy in Media — though they’ve done good work on TWA flight 800, this is just window-dressing. You know something’s fishy when they advertise a documentary film on Iraq as praised by a former Israeli ambassador, and promote neocons like Ann Coulter and Frank Gaffney (the latter signed the June 3, 1997 “Statement of Principles” from the Project for the New American Century).

The Israel Lobby
by John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt.Short versionLondon Review of Books, 23 March 2006.
Long version (pdf)“... saying that Israel and the United States are united by a shared terrorist threat has the causal relationship backwards: rather, the United States has a terrorism problem in good part because it is so closely allied with Israel, not the other way around.”
“... the mere existence of the Lobby suggests that unconditional support for Israel is not in the American national interest. If it was, one would not need an organized special interest group to bring it about. But because Israel is a strategic and moral liability, it takes relentless political pressure to keep U.S. support intact.”
Interview“The Israel lobby and its influence has been a taboo subject for too long. It is very important for the national interest that this matter be discussed at length and in a serious way in the media and on Capitol Hill. Too much is at stake to continue treating the lobby and Israel like two elephants in the room.”

A window on interrogation
Shin Bet, Israel’s FBI, arrests Khotri. He denies the charge. Under torture he confesses. After more torture he names several men as co-conspirators. Then Shin Bet arrests them. And so it goes. (A citizens’ group got Khotri a judicial hearing regarding his injuries. The judge ordered medical treatment, but failed to order an investigation of Shin Bet. Torture in Israel is only nominally illegal.) By Gideon Levy.

Voting for a “third party” candidate, even if he loses, benefits you in several ways. You publicly register your dislike of both the democrat and the republican, so if either “republicrat” wins he can’t claim your endorsement. And if a significant fraction of people, even though small, vote “third party” it will force the mainstream media to take notice of such candidates and help them win in the future. A good man running for office is an exercise in educating the public.
“Generating legal justifications for kidnapping and torturing people is not an official duty [of government officials]: it’s part of a criminal conspiracy. There are no legal exemptions for government officials who claim they are just following orders ... . I will ask Congress to create a Corps of Special Prosecutors to see that every single person who committed these and other crimes in the name of America is given a fair trial.”

U.S. Congressional Representative (Texas, nominally Republican), perhaps the only congress-critter walking on two legs. It’s been said that when you see a vote of 434 to 1, you know the 1 was Ron Paul.

Much of the usable radio spectrum is unused, and off limits. Why not open it to wireless Internet. (Don’t be misled by the words “free” and “public” – you’d still have to pay an ISP, though probably less than before and conceivably some ISPs might offer free service.)
Oil is a vital commodity, but there is no oil crisis and any alleged dearth of oil is not a legitimate foreign policy issue. Then there is nuclear power and who knows what other technical innovations that could flourish in a county free from crazy regulations and confiscatory taxation.
The Key to the Energy Crisis
by Lindsay Williams. At a Ford Hall Forum lecture question period in 1976, when oil prices were record high, Ayn Rand said “I don’t believe there is an energy crisis.” This book presents evidence that the oil crisis of the 1970’s was manufactured by elements within the government. There is vastly more oil under Alaska’s North Slope than all of Saudi Arabia.
The Oil Reserve Fallacy
by Prof. Robert Kovarik.
“Proven reserves are not a measure of future supply.”
“... the Middle East does not have two thirds of the world’s oil reserves.”
The two thirds estimate refers “to a narrow category of ‘proven’ oil reserves, not to ‘every ... barrel of oil in the world’ ... .”
“According to a US Geological Survey report quietly published in 2000, there is more oil outside the Middle East than inside the region.” Saudi Arabia, to take one country, “may have one quarter of the world’s identified oil reserves ..., but it has only about 16 percent of all ultimately recoverable reserves ... .”
Abiotic Oil ?
I was brought up on the idea that oil came from prehistoric plants, “fossil fuel” you know, and that therefore the amount of oil underneath the earth is necessarily very limited. But the notion that oil comes from prehistoric vegetation is largely conjecture, and it has competition. Some Russians maintain that oil is produced by an ongoing abiotic process, a process not involving living things, and at a rate that even today exceeds consumption. Apparently they have some good evidence.
